The 2021 USACM TJR Hughes Medal honors Du’s “numerous innovative contributions to computational physics and computational fluid mechanics, and unwavering service to the scientific computing community."

Qiang Du, the Fu Foundation Professor of Applied Mathematics, has earned the prestigious Thomas J.R. Hughes Medal from the U.S. Association of Computational Mechanics (USACM).

Presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of computational field dynamics, the 2021 Hughes Medal honors Du’s “numerous innovative contributions to computational physics and computational fluid mechanics, and unwavering service to the scientific computing community." He was given the award at the 2021 USACM’s U.S. National Congress on Computational Mechanics (USNCCM21) award ceremony (virtual) on July 26, 2021.
